It is so so hard, and wow, acknowledging that even as adults we can feel scared and helpless, well it doesn’t always go down so well with those around us. If you can, try to find your purpose, what motivates you to pull it all back together. And then reverse engineer it and make a plan – because little steps forward still count.

Ah Jared, mate, that is a blood rough road to tread – you’ve given me goosebumps as I read it and I completely empathise with the despair and exhaustion you must be experiencing, both mentally and physically.

I am glad I’ve given you a glimmer of hope – learning that life just isn’t fair, well, it really makes you question the point of everything, but you have you set yourself some milestones to reach, or else there is no incentive.

Be proud you can take charge, when you have capacity to do so. But also rest when you need, because it’s a long game.

Just as I was getting my life back on track following burnout and depression, I injured my spine. That was 11 months ago. Two failed back surgeries, cancer and my right kidney removed, was topped off last month by my wife of 17 years having an online affair, then deciding she wanted a divorce.

Talk about kick a man when he’s down!

I like you score 4/5 on the test. Now I’m rebuilding from scratch. Still in pain and medicated to the eyeballs I am more determined than ever to put my life back together. I need to move house, build a new business, and another spine surgery is not too far away.

It’s going to make one hell of a comeback story!
