I volunteer to achieve work/life balance. I am part of an all-volunteer wilderness search and rescue team that helps lost and injured hikers in our local mountains. Being able to help others in a way that is distinctly different from my work, and that requires intense focus really helps me forget about work, and keep work problems in perspective.

I don’t know what work life balance is 😉 – my husband, my son and I all have laptops. We are finally finding our groove and really enjoying the work we are doing so it’s hard not to log long hours in front of a screen (and I work from home so not so easy to switch off).

But, my husband Warren & I did buy bicycles not long after our 6 year old got a new one for his birthday in May, so now I go riding with my son a couple of times a week and on the weekend we all go riding along the bayside bike tracks together – a little corny I know, but so much fun.

And once summer kicks in, the beach which is at the end of our street will be calling our names 🙂

Work/Life balance seems to be the compromise of listening to lots of elevation podcasts while running but then not having the time to do it. I guess I do it wrong.
Love to listen to your shows nevertheless and would love to own another 900 pages book (and hopefully read it too 😉

Loved the interview. I don’t think I’ve found work/life balance. I just turn off from time to time when I feel I need to.
