Number twelve: DM's only
Good day, I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks, and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees, a practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better, more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 12, decision makers only! Don't have an initial client meeting with Robin unless Batman's there, if you know what I'm saying. Two reasons. First of all, Robin is not going to be able to make a decision without Batman. Second of all, Robin's then just going to have to relay your proposal or your pitch or your energy or your ideas up the line to Batman and he's not going to do as good a job as you can. So, you only want to meet with the decision makers.
You need to understand who the decision makers are in the project and you need to make sure that they are all present in the first client meeting, so that they can all get an understanding of who you are, your energy, your expertise, your, you know, how you present your confidence and they all need to be impressed by you in that first client meeting so that when you leave, they all start talking amongst themselves, and hopefully, you can find someone in that organization who will champion you and help you get the project over the line.
So, don't meet with, you know, PA's or assistants, or juniors or marketing managers unless the CEO is there. If the decision maker cannot be there, then re-schedule the meeting. And in the next episode, I'm going to talk to you about the importance of keeping that meeting short. Until then, go elevate.
