Number thirty: Email Proof
Good day, I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks. This is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees, practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better more interesting projects and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.
Number 30. Email proof. That's right. Instead of calling your prospect and asking them for feedback or to follow up on your proposal, what I usually do is have a series of testimonials on file and I in fact automate this through email auto responders. I send my lead an email that just says, “Hey, Shawn I just thought I'd share a testimonial that I got recently from a client just to show you the kind of relationship that I have with clients and the kind of work we do keeps our clients really happy.”
I just email them an approved testimonial from one of my existing clients who has given me permission to use it. I just email them and the testimonial usually says something like, I had bad experiences with web developers in the past. When we first started working with Troy the experience we had was XYZ and these are the benefits that we received and I would strongly recommend working with Troy to anyone because he keeps projects on time, on budget and delivers a great result and its made a great impact on our business.
I just send that email and say, “Hey, I thought you might just want to see what we're doing for other clients. I just got this recently and I thought I'd share it with you. Hope you're well. Talk to you soon and you're out of there.” You don't mention the proposal. You don't ask for feedback. You don't ask have there been any developments in the project. You just send some proof that what you do works and that your existing clients are happy. It's much better positioning than calling and asking for feedback.
In the next video, I'm going to talk about why it's important to stay true to your process and in fact why you should insist that your clients respect your process. Until then, go elevate.
