101 Ways to Elevate – #76 Set follow-up reminders

Number seventy-six: Set follow-up reminders

Good day, I'm Troy Dean from Video User Manuals and Agency Mavericks and this is the 101 Ways to Elevate Yourself and Demand Higher Fees. Our practical guide for WordPress consultants to start attracting better quality clients, work on better more interesting projects, and get paid better fees. Now, let's go elevate.

Number 76: Set follow up reminders. Yes, I bet you thought it was going to be about putting their birthday into your calendar to remind you to send them a birthday card. Well, I kind of don't do that. I think it's a little bit cheesy and I think people see straight through that kind of old school techniques.

What I do like to do is I like to set a follow up reminder in my calendar for 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after we've launched a project to follow up the client and ask them how they're doing. Do they need help with anything? You know, how's the traffic going to their website? How's their social media strategy going? Do they need any other assistance from us or do they need some more consulting or just to check in with them really and see how they're going.

It keeps us top of mind. It really helps us cement the relationship with the client so that if any other web developers are sort of floating around in the periphery it really helps us cement the relationship with the client so they're less likely to go anywhere else and more often than not it does result in more consulting work because they start asking us about search engine optimization. They start asking about social media strategy or usually the big one is email and newsletters. We usually get some design and development work from them to put together email campaigns.

Now, the reason I say set follow up reminders is because if it's not on the calendar it doesn't get done. So, program these reminders into your calendar to make sure you reach out to your clients at certain intervals to keep in touch with them. So, number 76 is set follow up reminders.

In the next video, you'll learn why Wufoo is important. Until then, go elevate.
