Number 82: Suggest split testing. I love this idea. You know why? Because nobody's doing it. Now I'm not saying that you have to position yourself as a conversion optimization expert and get really deep into conversion optimization. But nobody's suggesting split testing, because it sounds like a little bit of work is involved. And there is.
However, is you get hold of a very simple tool like Visual Website Optimizer or Optimizely or Convert.com, those tools allow you to run very simple tests on websites by split testing headlines, or split testing the color of a button, or split testing an offer that your client might make to encourage people to join their mailing list. Maybe it's a free report, and you might want to split test the two different variations of the image of the free report, or two different headlines of the free report.
The reason most web consultants don't suggest this stuff is because it does require a little bit of work to understand how split testing works. But it's not that difficult. Seriously, if you want to get up and running, just start with Visual Website Optimizer. It's a fantastic tool.
Encourage your clients to try some split testing that you can manager for them, and charge them a consulting fee for that service. And help them get better conversions out of their website, because the more conversions they get out of their website, the more successful they're going to be, and the more they're going to love you for helping them achieve those goals and achieve that success.
