In Episode #7 of the WP Elevation podcast I spoke with Maren Kate Donovan, CEO and founder of Zirtual, a US based virtual assistant service. I recently hired a virtual assistant, or a Zirtual assistant as they call them, through the Zirtual service and was blown away at their excellent on-boarding process. I also wanted to find out from Maren why and how she has built her company to what it is today.

I interviewed Maren while I was in San Francisco and I rented a small meeting room in a co-working space and we hooked up on Google Hangout. To be honest I prefer the quality of Skype so I do apologise for the video and audio quality not being as good as usual, but the content is well worth the investment of time.
It’s kinda funny too as we both look like a couple of heads without bodies.
You can reach out and thank Maren Kate on her email at [email protected].
Maren suggested I interview Ray Dalio who wrote Principles which you can get here. Ray, I’m coming to get you.

The kind of service I’d like to see matched with Zirtual would be a book keeping/tax service – it’s annoying trying to keep track of receipts, payments etc.
Also some kind of answering service that would deal with leads, emails and phone calls.
I don’t know if you have this in the Zirtual Dashboard, but it would be great to have a Basecamp-type of project management software to keep track of everything.
I agree with Nicole – a bookkeeping/tax service would be key.
I’d also like to have someone do some research on topics that interest me, but take too much time to sift through endless articles about (personal productivity, organization, general lifehacking-type stuff) and send me digests and suggestions of the Big Favorites on a regular basis.
I have tried a couple of different VA’s that have not worked out, mostly due to bad communication between us. I am excited to hear about the US based assistants near my timezone.
An additional service that came to me would be mail receiving, scanning and forwarding.
