Brent Weaver has been on my radar for a while. He teaches web professionals things like how to get more clients, how to write proposals and how to get content from clients in a timely manner. Sound familiar? His company uGurus delivers high-quality courses with beautiful production values to help web professionals grow their business. Part of me is jealous of how gorgeous their material is. So I thought the best way to learn from Brent was to get him on the podcast. Miss this at your own peril. Brent is the real deal.

I’d be interested in a course about productizing services. (
James Schramko – former guest in this podcast – might be a good tutor for that.)
I would love to see a uguru course on an insiders look at the agency web development process, from research, discovery, deliverables, milestones, client presentations, sign-offs, basecamp usage/management, as well as how you charge, sometimes fixed, sometimes T&M, when and why.
I am looking forward to winning the Conquering Content Delays.
Big thanks to both Troy and Brent for all the great content!
I would love to see a course on how to form and cultivate working partnerships and collaborative efforts.
Another awesome podcast!
I agree in with Philipp’s comment
I would be interested in seeing a course about best practices for outbound marketing for new designers.
I would like to know a time effective way to discover those ideal prospects quickly. I become discouraged sorting through so many unqualified non-decision makers!
I would love to see a video about “letting go”. I never feel done with a project and its hard for me to say good bye with grace. Whats the best way to transition?
I would like a course in how to engage a customer and establish myself as a valued consultant. Maybe I just need therapy (ha!) but even when they reach out to me I go right into the mindset of “I am a designer” rather than “I provide solutions and can help you with x”. In part I just don’t know the language and this can and does stop me from even picking up the phone to start a conversation.
I would love to see a video on managing multiple projects and keeping stress levels at minimum.
I would love to see a course about building long-term relationship with clients. Rob and Phillip have already mentioned great ideas In comments. It would be great to discover detailed process of professional agency workflow.
Thank you, guys, for the valuable content you produce for us!
This is my first experience with your video interviews, and I quite like the approach you are taking. The learning is comfortable, not feeling ‘taught’ in the strict sense. I have some lovely take away from this.
Perhaps a part two to Georgia’s question, but I am wondering how to get onto the speaking circuit? I have over 15 years in the internet industry, being everything from a designer/coder to Creative Director of Web to self-employed (since 2006). I share my experiences / insights with clients and routinely see their light bulb moment. Coming from a self-taught background, I know how valuable it has been to me learning from others and want to give back to the community.
As mentioned above, I also second Georgia’s suggestion. I am in the process of making the same transition. Getting out of the trenches and into higher level concepts for solving client’s problems. I regularly get a small engagement and throughout the process share the insights which would better set me up as a consultant from the get go. If I could start the relationship at that point, it would dramatically shift my business.
Thank you for the video. I look forward watching back through your archives!
Love your courses… however there aren’t enough of them. What I would like to learn is all about content marketing, how to define your audience, how to do research, how to write content, product webinars, etc… all to engage your audience (target niche), how to structure a post properly for SEO … how to promote it, should you guest blog, allow others to post to your blog, etc…. etc… a massive concept … inbound marketing if you like … Would love to see something like this.

Marketing guide for starting businesses. Including a roadmap what to implement when, right from day one!
Great show Troy!
The #1 course I’d like to see UGURUS come out with would be about selling online learning solutions / learning management systems (LMS).
