Our featured guest this week is Jason Schuller from Seattle in Washington. You may know him from press75.com or you may know him as the guy behind Leeflets or Droppplets. Or maybe you know his new project Cinematico, which is a website solution for people who have a video channel on Vimeo or YouTube and want to create a website with all their video content.
Jason has spent the last six years in the WordPress space selling premium themes and he’s learned a lot. If you’re struggling in your business because you’re doing everything yourself and you feel like you’re treading water then this episode is for you.
Jason’s got a lot of good advice on how important it is to surround yourself with other people and how important it is to let go of control so you don’t burn out.

Elevation Tip of the Week: this might sound a little bit New Age and self-help, but “Find your passion.”  Jason talks a lot about finding your passion and how important it is in this interview. It’s one of the reasons that he’s getting out of the WordPress space and trying to do something a little bit bigger. Here’s the thing I know about following your passion. If you’re not passionate about what you do, eventually you’ll just tire of it. You’ll run out of steam, and you won’t be able to keep up with the competition. Think about it.

Troy, as always, a great podcast.
Jason, the #1 feature that I’d like to see in Cinematico would be the ability to work with self-hosted videos (as opposed to just YouTube and Vimeo).
For example, I upload a video to a specific directory on my web server, and Cinematico would scan that directory, and load the videos directly onto the website. That would make Cinematico compelling for me. I hope this feedback helps.
Jason, You have got to make this a premium plugin for WordPress! I like Jim Krenz’ idea too. But if I had this as a plugin, then it gives my videos a place to go live on my own site while I’m waiting for the text content to go with them on their own post (like a transcript).
Jason, the #1 feature I would like to see is a hosted version of Cinematico that also includes a premium option to make all or part of the videos available to members only (for say Vimeo users). A natural extension of this functionality would be the ability to take payment via Paypal or Stripe for members. There are so many ways to do this with WordPress so a simple, easy to use solution that just works would be an interesting alternative for video based membership sites.
Jason, No. 1 for me would be a way to monetize a Cinematico website. Google Adwords, Amazon Affilate, whatever… just something that would help pay me AND you. Oh, and GO SEAHAWKS and HUSKIES!
Never really thought about a Cinematico plugin for WordPress, but that’s an intriguing idea for sure.
With the auto upload feature from DropBox to Vimeo and having a https://cinemati.co/ WordPress plugin. This would be the dream team for Video publishing.
A good feature would be to have the ability to have videos from one youtube / vimeo account be place on different websites , according to things like tags, groups, words in title. Let cinemati.co scan periodically all videos took look for updated tags
This would be a killer automatic video deploying system across all your wordpress sites never seen before! Imaging all the possibilities for e.g. your e-course site. Shot your daily or weekly video. Put in your DropBox Vimeo auto upload folder and be done!
– Vimeo finds the video in dropbox renders and publishes it.
– cinemati.co finds the video in your vimeo account when it’s ready and publishes it on your site, according preset rules on your WP course website.

This was a great and inspiring podcast. It really hit home today. A friend of mine passed away just after Easter, and I was thinking about her this morning and how quickly it just ended for her. And then I thought about how I spend my whole life sitting in front of my computer instead of doing things I love. And I started thinking about how I need to start being a little more focused about what I’m doing so I can make more time for things that really matter. I got this podcast in my e-mail box shortly after and I’m feeling really motivated to just take some time out to re-evaluate everything I’m doing.
As for Cinematico features, there are two things I think that would be really awesome. First, it would be great if you could plug in your social network information so that it would broadcast to your social networks when a new video is on the site. The second thing I would personally use a ton, which builds on what Jim said below about self hosted videos, is that I would love to be able to upload videos directly from my mobile device without having to go through Vimeo or Youtube.
