Bidsketch

Welcome to Episode #29 of the WP Elevation Podcast. Our guest this week is Ruben Gamez from Bidsketch, absolutely beautiful proposal software for sending proposals to your clients. If you are a web designer, freelancer, or consultant of any sort, you should definitely be checking out Bidsketch to send beautiful proposals to your clients. We always talk about the lean startup approach to developing products but Ruben actually uses the lean startup approach for developing free content based on what his customers have told him they want. Stay tuned, I’m sure you’re going to get a lot out of this interview.

Show Notes

Highlights from this episode include:

  • WP Elevation Tip of the Week: Use your customer’s language to communicate your proposal back to them. If you ask your prospective client the right questions about what it is they’re expecting to achieve with a new website, then use their language in your proposal back to them. It goes a long way in encouraging your prospect that you understand and you empathize with their challenges and therefore you are automatically credited with having the answers and solutions to their challenges.

I think that having report style analytics that are easy to get to from the nav bar would be nice.

I use Xero, so it would be nice if you integrate bidsketch and Xero, and have them create invoice automatically (or pay automatically, somehow).

Actionable Analytics. Integration with other Analytics would be helpful but mostly just stats that I can quickly make decisions on.

Love this interview (and I love Bidsketch!), even though I’m late in listening. I’m particularly in love with Ruben’s description of how he made connections with other folks in the industry who he admired. I have a couple of people like that who I follow, but I hate _bugging_ them, you know what I mean? These people have real work to do and why on earth would they want to bother emailing with me?

I agree – analytics would be great! I would also like to see more in the library for scripting. Many people are creative but not necessarily good writers so it’s always nice to have a basic script in place for different sections that could be used in multiple industries and multiple consultant positions. I morphed from WordPress web design into adding marketing so now I look for words to use in scripts than can pull them closer to signing. Especially in intros. Thanks for all you do!

I wish this can be integrated with other CRM’s like Apptivo or Zoho CRM or better yet with https://zapier.com/

  15. I enjoy Bidsketch a lot. I would like to see a smartphone app or mobile-friendly version of the site for those cases when I am on the go and want to pump out a quick proposal to someone (i did it once on my iPhone and it was rough with the zooming in and out).

Be sure you take a look at your competition, “Proposify”. They are less “ready to go” unlike Bidsketch but they have a UI for proposal template design and a “hello sign” type of sign-off. I tried them out and resorted to sticking with you. But take a look if you haven’t. Thanks also for your blog posts, Ruben!

  18. Thanks Gin! Awesome! I am very appreciative! Bidsketch is the best!
